WebAl-Mualim is a fabulous antagonist, who perfectly works to both mold Altair as he develops, and showcase the temptation of the Apple that he himself talks about. He is an Assassin in his ideals, but through the Apple, he's twisted into something that more closely resembles the Templars, and he drops hints of this corruption every time he talks. WebAl-Mualim is the leader of the Assassin Order round the time of 1191. During the events of Assassin's Creed, he sets Altair on a quest of redemption by ordering the assassinations of 9 important figures from both sides of the conflict between Richard the Lionheart and Saladin during the Third Crusades, while re-instating Altair to his former rank.
